Mastering workflow Part 2 - with Samplitude tools
Hi gang,
This is an attempt at mastering while explaining the process and using only Samplitude plugins..
Tell me what you think ! (remember I'm not a ME ! ;)
My main missing things are
LUFS metering
M/S processing
Having long peak holds on the spectrum analyser.
Cheap mastering in 2019
I'm getting close to finishing a lot of my songs and I'm down to just listening through them and putting vocals on the ones I'm happy with. Many years ago I used to love T-racks 24 for mastering but for many reason, it's unusable. What is the cheapest way of achieving what that program did? Is the way forward to now use mastering plugins rather than standalone?

LUFS - Coming to the party late (40 yrs!)
Something I've never really considered in all my years recording is wrapped around these new 'requirements' for the streaming platforms - LUFS.

Noise floor vs. Noise floor when speaking
Hello,
Is there any reason why my noise floor would differ while speaking vs when just recording the tone of the room?
My recorded noise floor seems to be lower when speaking; -85 and higher when I just sample the "tone" of the room, it's at -60. Is that because my voice is blocking most of the noise floor?
Sorry if this question seems basic, total newbie at this.

RMS - Peak Levels for final output
I've read that the difference between the RMS level or average volume level and the peaks in an audio track is a good determination of the amount of dynamics in the track. According to which kind of project your working on and what it will be used for, I realize that these may differ.

Master Mix on Fostex Digital 8 track
Any Fostex users out there? I forget my model number - 8 track recorder (4 tracks at a time) with CD burner. I'm seeking advice regarding the order in which the tracks should be recorded and how they should be mixed. I have some M Audio speakers - which tend to sound "muddy". I'll get a mix that sounds good in the headphones only to have it sound like crap through the speakers.

Does repeated destructive editing of lossless file degrade the file?
(To be clear, I'm not asking if repeated copying of a WAV degrades the file. I know the answer to that is no.)
