mic placement for orchestral band/chorus
Hi all-newbie here with a question. My daughter's HS marching band also performs orchestral music (upper college and sometimes professional level pieces) at a local church sanctuary which is huge-seats about 3000. Next month the chorus will be doing the show along with the band. So I'm looking for advice on mic placement, how many mics I would need, and which mics would work best.

Choir and organ mic installation question
I have been tasked with coming up with the best installation possible for choir microphones at our church. We have about a 40 voice choir that stands directly in front of the main organ pipes and in between two organ lofts, and occasionally will have an orchestra in front of them.

Will digital mics ever be the standard
On another thread I just gave a rant on how excellent quality preamps were a really great audio investment. Stable, long lasting technology, what could go wrong? Well, thinking about it, if digital output microphones become standard, we can all put our preamps next to our turntables. Now I don't see it happening soon. Right now the trend is to put more analog back in the signal chain.

Need help recording to computer with multiple microphones
So me and my friends want to start a podcast, so I'm looking into what we will need. I have a basic audio editing software and we'll be getting 4 microphones, but I was having a little trouble finding exactly what I need to record all of us directly to my PC.
Buying a used mic?
Not sure if this has been asked, I did some searching throughout the forums and I couldn't find anything (I very well could have been looking in the wrong sections). So I've been waiting for my NT1-A from Sweetwater and they pushed back when I'm supposed to get it about a month. Now I'm somewhat okay with that, as it gives me time to work on music and what not.

Choir behind orchestra: best way to mic?
In my professional life, about 90% of the time, when there is a choir with instruments- from small ensemble to full orchestra- the choir is behind the instruments on risers. To my main pair, the choir is less 'close' and detailed than the instruments because it is quite a bit further from the mains.

Microphone sensitivity help
Hey everyone,
Could someone help me out with this/walk me through how it's solved?
The Beyer M-160 has a sensitivity rated as
-52dB (0 dB = 1mW/Pa)
and a rated load impedance of 200ohms.
The Sennheiser MD-421 has a sensitivity given as
-54dB re: 1V/µbar.
Which of these microphones is the more sensitive, and by how many dB?
Thanks!
