Seems like some are negative on the Vintech 1272, either because they're not really a real Neve 1272 or maybe something wrong with the sound...

I know the bottom-end is a little hyped and the mids can be crunchy, but they've been ok to really nice for me on elec guitar, bass DI, kick and snare... Not having a chance to use a real Neve to compare them, am I missing something here?

I'll try to make this as breif as possible, but as you all know-nothing is ever simple in this bus.

ok - spent an evening today at a place with both a Great River NV, and a pair of Vintech 1073s.

I know many people have been buzzing about both, so I'm going to drop my measly opinion of what I encountered trying both out.

Mic source - matched pair of Schoeps cmc6/mk4v's

Program Sources - Steinway Piano, Sax, Male vox.

I have worked out a system of keeping mastered and un-masterd copies of my mixes.

Confessions:

For a few years I used a Finalizer on all mixes, totaly maxed out.

I gave that up in favor of mastering in a DAW, I auditioned Waves plugins directly against the Finalizer and Waves won (for EQ anyway) They were less harsh.

After reinstalling Reason. It asks for the Factory Sound bank CD EVERY TIME I open Reason. Is there a way around this?

I have never heard anyone talk about the various types and vintages of Shure SM57's, so I thought I would bring it up. I know this seems silly. Oh well. .

I dunno about you guys, but, I am stuck without a song and a band. I am a non writer and 'retired' musician. I DO pick up a gtr to demonstrate ideas when producing, but it soon gets handed to a musician. I can't read music, have no theory and would LOVE to know the piano and feel ashamed I don't.

Hey Fletcher on your web site you don't recommend the non-transformer ballanced eq from Speck. Why? I usually only eq when mixing down so do I need it transformer ballanced? Should I be eq'ing when tracking?

Well..I have to say I'm dissapointed.

the timing just isn't there for triggering replacement drum sounds from audio
