Matching up the right mic and mic preamp?
Hi ya folks, I was thinking of buying a mic preamp here recently, and have narrowed down the choices to either the "RNP" or "Grace 101" My Primary use for this mic preamp is "Vocals" and some "Acoustic Guitar". I record vocals at home and record most of the music at local studio. But anyway My Mic is a Audio-Technica 4050.

Mackie VLZ PRO competes against the big name mic preamp's
Hey Gang, I was browsing and came across this artical
thought I'd share..
mic preamp suggestions
I am running a digi 001 through my Mackie mixer. My next step is to upgrade my preamps, because I don't have a lot to compare to, but we all know the reputation for Mackie preamps.
The kind of stuff i do mostly is rock (distortion guitar), but I need to do a range of things including acoustic guitar.
What would be the best stereo preamp option for around $1000?

Gaines Audio MP-2 mic preamp - anyone used one?
The MP-1 & MP-2 aren't being made anymore, but Gaines Audio seem to make good quality gear for little cash?
Anyone used their pres or other gear? The MP-2 seems to be in a few decent studios, racked with more well known preamps.
Matching mics with mic preamps
I've been wondering this for awhile. Everyone's ideal studio, from what I've been reading on this board, would include at least 6-10 different mics and 3-5 different mic preamps (probably the more, the better). How do you know which mic/mic preamp combination works best for a given singer? Surely you wouldn't have that singer try every mic/mic preamp combination.

Do I need another mic preamp?
I need some opinions! I have a pretty good mic cabinet consisting of:
BLUE modified Neumann UM-57 (sounds better than a stock 67, though not as good as a 47)
Audio-Technica 4060, 4033
ADK Area 51TT, Area 51 TC
Pair of Sennheiser 441's
Pair of SM57's
Pair of Oktava MC012's
CAD Equitech 100
My preamps consist of:

I need to get railed! mic preamps: what do you think?
I am debating the search and purchase of some vintage rails, while unsure of the price and potential issues of maintainance and noise, both in the signal path and external rf also.
I have also considered rack units like the AMEK channel in a box.
Mic Preamps on Mackie 1604 VLZPro
I hope this isn't too dumb of a question, but before I go out and spend a bunch on the PreSonus or Sebatron , I figured I would ask it.
Right now I'm using a Mackie 1604 VLZPro mixer and going into a MOTU 2408. Mackie says the the VLZPro has great mic preamps on each channel.
Are those sufficient? Hype? Still need the 8 in mic preamp?
Thanks!

Mic Pre question, good stereo, or 8 ins?
I'm looking into getting a pre these days and need some advice.
I know PreSonus has an 8 input pre which seems like it would be a good thing to have for recording drums.
The question are:
