Beginners Question =/
Forums
So i just bought a mxl2003 condenser mic and this is the first pro audio mic I've ever received. The "studio" is at my friends house but i wanted to test out the mic. I bought an XLR F to 1/4" analog M plugged it into my sisters karaoke machine and i didn't get any sound. Do i have a bad mic or do I NEED a phantom power source?

Need better sound quality for piano recording
Forums
Hi, I'm trying to record myself playing the piano, but all I have is a Nikon Coolpix Camera, with 8-bit 7***hz mono sound. If you want to see what I did until now, check out DrAsik100 on Youtube, that's me.
I'm not too difficult on sound quality, but if at least I could record in 16-bit and get a 14khz range it would be a lot better already.
Old audio cassette
Forums
Hey there,
I know it's not technically a pro audio thing but my area is mainly making as much noise as possible and I haven't had that much exp mastering.
Basically, my mate just brought round a very hectic rave tape. It's awesome, the only problem is that it's possibly a 5th or maybe 4th gen copy.

Tips for Recording a BMW M3 Muscle car.
Forums
Hi there, I've been commissioned to record the new BMW M3 V8 car on set. I have a few questions. Let me first present my production treatment.
I plan to record the car in it's entirety. I would like stationary sound. Passing sound. In-car sound, and lastly, the sound from the outside, while the car is moving [less wind]

Piano recording under less than ideal circumstances
Forums
On Monday, Wednesday and Friday night I get to do a piano recording of some Beethoven pianos works. The player is a graduate student, the piano is a German Steinway but the room is awful. It is a large Orchestra rehearsal room with very high ceilings, lots of HVAC wind noise and it is located right next to a major intersection and none of the windows are sound proof.
180 degree phase flip without the on-board option.
