I MAY HAVE ASKED THIS QUESTION BEFORE, BUT I STILL NEED INPUT FROM THE VETS. IM USING AN AUDIOPHILE 2496/M-AUDIO...OK MY GOAL IS TO GET RID OF MY ANALOG MIXERS AND GO STRAIGHT INTO THE INTERFACE, MY CURRENT INTERFACE HAS NO XLR CONNECTORS. . I LIKE MY OUTBOARD PRE'S AND DON'T NEED A CONVERTER WITH PRE'S...i JUST NEED A REAL GOOD INTERFACE WITH XLR'S AND 1/4'S AND RCA'S.

i gotta get some new pres to go with my distressor. i'm just thinking out loud here - and i'd like to hear some other thoughts.

As you may have guessed from my previous posts I'm having backup/archive issues. I've been using a lot of different media for DVDR backups on my mac. I haven't had any brand preference at this point. What are your recommendations as far as the best archival quality DVDR's?

ive heard many tricks to do this:
dupe the track and all delay...dupe the track and add reverb
compression, etc...

Does anyone have a tried and true way of doing this? I have a pretty "airy" song with some crunchy gTRS in the choruses...but they sound weak and thin compared to the rest when they hit.

I want to upgrade the cables linking my hardware in my studio. Mainly, I need MtoF XLR cables connecting my preamps to my Firepod. I want to keep my sound clean and pure. What cables do you suggest? Any links?

My question will take a little explaining, I have a MOTU HD 192 setup on a mac, if someone records there voice on a standard 44.1khz dat tape and sends it to me, would there be a difference in quality using a digital signal such as SPDIF, versus the analog XLR outputs?

is their anyway i can trigger a gate plugin with a midi note or drum trigger? do any plugins support that type of thing?

Whats the difference betweem the Alesis DM5 and the D4 modules?
Can I record miced drums, then,run the signal from channels send to trigger the DM?

Really, I've only been recording seriously for about 4 months and I'm lovin' it. It's pure luck though. I'm sure this has been rehashed here a million times but I really want to post my experience.

I have the opposite problem than most. I'm so into the music, I love all the tracks...even the clams - I have to force myself to look for trouble :D
