Mac Moving to Intel
Forums
Just thought I'd drop a note letting you guys know that apple is switching to x86 processors, they are saying the transition should begin by next year and be done in 2007. This of course means that every piece of software written for OSX will have to be recomplied to work on x86.

MOTU 896HD Pre's
Forums
Anyone use them? I'm looking into getting one as a portable interface, and was wondering if the pre's are even halfway decent.
I know they're not going to be API's or Great River's, but are they useable? Mostly I'll be using them to track rock drums on location, at least until I can get some more money scrounged together for some other pre's.

DAW's and truly professional results?
Forums
When Bad Company, the Beatles, the Stones, Neil Young, The Who, Van Halen, etc, etc all made those classic recordings in the 60's, 70's and 80's, they used studios employing technology that was primitive compared to the average $1,500 DAW you can buy on Musician's Friend nowadays, right? Or wrong?
If it's digital...isn't it going to reproduce perfectly?

Roland VS-1880 versus. ?
Forums
I'm wanting to get back into digital recording and am wondering which path to take. I know how quickly digital technology progresses, so I wonder what today's equivalent of the VS-1880 would be in other brands.
I know Roland makes the VS-2000CD now and that looks a lot like the 1880 I used to use... but now I am wondering about fun new things like the MBox, etc..

Tascam us122
Forums
I am using a Tascam interface us122 usb for recording our shows off the soundboard. We use the progam wavelab to capture one long wave. However every 3-4 minutes there is some strange choppyness for about 5 seconds.
