I was wondering if I could get some input as to what pair of mics (or a single stereo, but probably not) ) would be good for doing a live stereo recording of Irish Sessions in pubs.

Does anyone know if the Layla3G mic preamps are any good? At what level do you think they would come in at? i.e. as good as a PreSonus micpre, VTB-1 or Mackie pre?

Well, the topic says most of it... If so, how do you "feel" these compare to, say, Events 2020bas (almost same price tag), or the SP6's? Ihave a small room, but taken cared of acoustically, and presently no monitors whatsoever. I'd like to buy something that can last me to when I migrate to a bigger place - a good investment, I would say.

Anyone has tried any of these? You can buy a new one for about $999, which is cheap for macs. I have a G4 desktop which I use with Digital performer but I've been wanting a lap top to do remote recording and bring it back to my desktop. I just want to make sure there aren't any issues I should know about before I spring for one.

i love most of what he's done, hence the interest.

A friend of mine recently purchased a Portastudio 424 for a really good price (he thinks). Problem? No manual. So I told him I'd look at it. Can anyone tell me the very basics on how to get a signal to the tape and back again? btw - this is NOT a MKII or MKIII.

In lieu of (or in addition to) that has anyone got an ecopy of the manual?

I am new to this forum so I will start with a quick Hello!

I've been trying for the past hour to connect it to my Rosetta 800, but I just cant get the right pin to screw in. The left one goes in every time, but for the life of me I can't get the right to screw in. Has anyone had this same problem? Any suggestions? I've even tried another XLRF digisnake...thank you
