Just wondering if there's any difference between the V2 and V3 apart from the converters -or absence of them. I'm not particularly interested in the converters on the V3 as they can't be synched.

i'm going to be using a PreSonus firepod with a laptop, 1400 MHz processor, 260,000 KB RAM, and i'll be working with the version of Cubase that comes standard with the firepod. the laptop only has one firewire port (which the firepod will be connected to), the firepod has two, one of which will obviously go to the computer. a few questions:

I want a Distrssor with Brit Mod. Cant afford one, but heard some pleasant things about the SC2 from Joemeek . I know some of their newer stuff is Chinese junk (or, so Ive heard from many), but some of their higher-end/older models are actually quite usable, and quite good! is this one made in China?

I saw that 'Big_D' had done the Alesis mod.

After many months of hard work in my small home studio I finally finished my first song, although it is no great masterpiece there was a lot of knowledge gained from my experience. What’s more important are the questions that arose from this practice.

I'm looking at reasonably priced control surfaces/ A/Ds. I'm liking the US-428, mostly for price. Is it gunna crap out on me or sound bad? is it decent enough? I need something for a broad range of work. Everything from video to theater sound design to studio recording. Worth the money? Also, how worth it would it be to splurge on moving faders, or is that overboard?

Just starting out and looking at gear. I don't have unlimited funds and won't likely be doing this for a living, but one still wants things to sound good and get the biggest bang for the buck.
