So..now that we have the case..floppy..power supply..hard drives(whether IDE or SCSI) and Motherboard we now go on to the fun part! PCI cards and IRQ's! Oh joy oh joy! Yippee!
Now..we explain IRQ's!

It seems that it is pretty much carved in silicon that the VIA Chipsets suck. There were problems with the older chipsets, and now even the latest KT266A chipsets have been reproted to have PCI bandwidth issues.

I have a P3-500, 256mb RAM,
SB Live Plat. sound card and 2x20gig 7200rpm hd's.
I'm having latency issue and overall processing bugs as of late. Here's why I think...

I was wondering if anyone knew what a soundfont was, and how to use them.
I have an old soundblaster card, and though it isn't the best quaility card on the market, it suits my present purpose.

so i'm working with a very talented girl who needs help in the gtr-time dept.

what is the best way to coach someone for yr experience?

Ok, here's the disclaimer (and yes, I checked the FAQ's, and beginner's sections): I'm not a producer (never wanted to be), I'm not extremely midi savy, and I'm not the best at troubleshooting PCs. So, that being said:

I recently did some guitar work for some Acid guys and found that I like it and want to use it in my facility. They want me to get it as well.

Can you draw in volume changes directly on regions in the arrange window in 4.8? If so, can it be done on both MIDI and audio tracks, and how do you do it?

Now that you track everything with your FATSO, adding lots of "warmth", would you still invest in a HEDD for your mix bus...if you didn't already have one?

And what exactly does the HEDD add at this point that the FATSO hasn't already given you?

I was just given a reel of Ampex 456 at +3/250 15 ips recorded in 1982 to replace a vocal track and mix. My MCI is setup for +6/250 30ips.

(1) How do/will I know if the tape will require baking.
(2) How will I need to set up the MCI. If I switch to IEC will this be sufficent for record (1 or 2 tracks) and playback?
