Can anyone help an old musician with this PC recording s
I recently decided to try digital/PC recording and cannot quite get my system working properly. These are the items I have set up now. Sony VAIO PCV-RX-540(1.2ghz celeron, 256ram) with an additional Maxtor 7200rpm 80 gig hard drive added for the audio. OS is Windows XP. I am using a Tascam US-428 for the audio/midi interface. The software is the bundled Cubasis that comes with the US-428.
analog noise reduction, Telcom C-4
Hi,
I have an oppurtunity to buy a system of Telcom C4 noise reduction units. (It's not the kind of deal that I can try them out, and then decide if I want to buy.) Does anybody have any experience with these? Almost everything on the web that I can find is in German. I am curious to know how the sound compares to the various dolby Noise reduction units.
thank you.

Digital converters prizing factor
I'd like to know what is the determining factor on the higher cost that some converters have, related to others. As far as I know, the electronics involved are pretty the same, but prizes are not!
Thanx in advance, sorry for my english (poor!)

Mixing board goes back to default!
Hello- I'm using Audiodesk on my iMac with a MOTU 828. Whenever I go from the Mixing board panel to any other panel, it always goes back to it's default setting (pan controls go back to the 12 o'clock position, and faders go back to zero). How do I stop this from happening?

Running 2 monitors from a remote computer
Need some help please! If anyone uses a similar system:
I'm planning on using 2 Apple flatscreen displays for a Mac based Pro Tools system. The difference to the "norm" being that the computer is located in a central machine room, not in the control room.
The cable run between the displays and the computer is 32 feet.

Connecting a dbx 576 pream compressor to a Tascam -428
I am recording from an AKG 1000s microphone into a dbx preamp. Also using a Kurzwel K2500.
What setting are needed on the various inputs and outputs on the back of the dbx preamp. there is achoice of dbV and dBu (-10 and =4)
in particular,
1. What is needed on the input from the Kurzweil?
Four. .,count 'em, four tracks. .
Here's the gig: I am starting a mixing project for an artist here in Austin. It was tracked all at home mostly in his kitchen on a four track in the ol' Latin Playboy's tradition. Not a crappy poorly tracked demo thing, he is an amazing writer and player with several major label releases behind him This is a side/solo thing for him between his band releases.
