Two 8 ohms speakers in series vs one 16 ohm speaker

I have a simple question. I am going to build one of these for recording:
http://www.amptone.com/diyisobox.htm
I greatly prefer the sound of 16 ohm loads over 8 ohms.

I was thinking I would get a 2x12 and use two 8 ohm V30s in series. But how would the sound compare to using a 1x12 with 1x16 ohm V30?

All Focusrite Saffire line Audio interface users- A question for you.

All Focusrite Saffire audio interfaces come with a plugin VST package that includes reverb compression, EQ, etc. I am curious to hear from any users as to whether they are respectable in use, and how well they stand up against other such VST plugins, particularly the reverb.

I want to record music for the rest of my life

i want to record music for the rest of my life. this isn't a on the spot decision ive been giving it a lot of thought for a long time.
Which would be better.
goto a 4 year school, institute of recording and production, or just jump right in and job shadow and try to volunteer and get as much experience as possible and just go from there...

Noob needing some advice to get straight!

Hi,
I have modest means and modest goals: to record songs that I use for musical theatre shows that I write. Keyboard based, plus vocals. I have WinXP with a SBLive! card (with breakout) - which I *may* replace. Also a small mixer (Xenyx 802), FCA202 interface, PC300 controller and Nanopiano, C1 condenser mic, SM58 mic, Cubase s/w.

Earthworks PM40 substitute?

Hi! I'm new here. I just bought a bad-ass bechstein grand, and planning on recording trio sessions at home.
The problem is that I have cars go by all the time outside my house, so it's a little noisy.

Then i saw (and heard) the pm40 and i was stunned by the sound you can get even with the lid closed. I want That, i thought. The problem is that its super-expensive.
