Cheap monitors or a good grot-box?
Forums
Hi everyone,
My current "monitoring" setup is a pair of Boston Acoustics CR8s hi-fi speakers and a Yamaha subwoofer. I get some translation issues with this system, especially in the upper mid-range.
I'm considering going with either a set of cheap monitors (under $500, was looking at MSP5s) or getting a pair of Avantone Mixcubes. I plan on leaving the BAs connected as well.

Converting AIFF files to WAV?
Forums
Hi everyone,
My bandmates and I have just finished the first mixdown of nine recordings and would like to place them all onto a CD in order to listen to them on other systems and judge what needs to be fine-tuned or blended better, etc.

BOOKS ON ACOUSTIC RECORDINGS
Forums
Dear friends
I'm trying to find books or other media (or even courses) on recording of classical music (choirs, chamber ensambles, orchestras, solo performers, etc.), but all books are on pop-rock microphone/recording/mixing techniques. Can anyone give me any advises?
Thank you

Confused...
Forums
Why is it when I look at pictures of radio hosts such as Alex Jones, or Don Imus, to name a few. They either don't have a circular windguard, or a foam cover. They are just speaking directly into the mic. I thought if you do this you get the bad S's and P's.
And if they are using a windguard in studio they are using the foam cover, I thought those are for outside work.

Sound absorbtion behind drumkit?
Forums
I have an 8x5 foot American flag behind my drum kit.
I was thinking I can put some kind of sound absorber behind the flag. I figure the flag absorbs an infinitesimal amount of higher frequencies.
What can I "hide" behind it that might take some more ring out of the cymbals while allowing the toms and snare to have some air?
