S/PDIF problem with E-MU 1212m HELP!
Forums
I'm trying to connect my dbx 386 tube preamp to my E-MU 1212m sound card using S/PDIF. I've bought the proper cable to use and connected it from the dbx 386 S/PDIF out to the 1212m's S/PDIF in. I've messed with the session settings in the 1212m's Patchmix, but I still can't get any sound on my computer to come in from the S/PDIF in. What am I doing wrong that I can't get it to work?

Loud cymbals
Forums
Well, I'm beginning to work on the mix for my instrument tracks, and it appears I accidentally turned the cymbals up a bit too high. Unfortunately, I recorded with electronic drums in stereo, so I can't adjust individual drum voices. The largest problem seems to be that the cymbals are drowning out the snare a bit.

Coiling Wires
Forums
Hello and good day to all and sundry,
I once had the art of coiling a mic lead up so that it doesn't twist the wires explained to me by a pink haired roady at a house party. Unfortunately whatever he was on kicked in half way through and it never really made sense.
Is this something that can be explained or only learned by mimicking?

Fuller and slightly darker than a KSM27?
Forums
Hi there
My band and I have a Shure KSM27 LDC Mic.
This being a fairly bright mic, I was wondering if anyone could suggsest another LDC which is considered to be fuller and darker coloured in comparison to the KSM27. I'm looking for something around the same price as the KSM27 or with a price ceiling as high as £400/$500.
Can anyone offer some opinions?
LiD

I recorded 6 sets of a group over this weekend. It went well, everything recorded fine. but. I did a rough mixdown for the band to go over to pick out songs to do a good mix on. All of the sets except one turned out pretty good.

direct boxes when recording guitar
Forums
Here's a quote from the Kapt:
"You'll rarely get good results plugging a guitar straight into an interface. Depending on how it's set, you could be loading down the guitar signal. A direct box, a preamp, or a POD (or similar) may help get a better signal."
