After recording a couple of songs using all 8 channels, when I rewind back to the first song

i know that you can hook these two up with the direct outs and the input B. But my question is how do u edit the mix with the mixer using B does it re record it or what it confuses me. the reason I'm asking is because I'm planing on purchasing these two very shortly. If thats not the best way to go do u have any suggestions.

If i connect a digimaxfs pre-amp to a Digidesign 002 through the ADAT out of the digimaxfs into the optical in of the Digidesign that will optimally give me 8 more channels correct?

What's the difference?

I had an ADAT PCI card that I was unable to ever get working properly. Guess that's why Alesis doesn't offer any support on it. I recently purchased a Hammerfall Digi9652 card with the ADAT ins and outs with ADAT sync. What software can I use for importing tracks from ADAT into the PCI for editing, and sending back to the ADAT in sync with the tape timecode?

I want to buy an interface with 8 Mic preamps, which might have a good quality and offer 16 ch Adat, cause i want to make 24 track live recording and use in my studio too.

The options I have in the market are Focusrite Saffire Pro, The PreSonus Firestudio and the Alesis IO26? Is there any other better option? which one is better?

Ok I have an RMEfireface 800 and a PreSonus digimax 96. Soon I plan on running both to a good board on mixdown. The problem is the PreSonus only has ADAT outs. The RMEhas ADAT in and outs. If I hookup the PreSonus to the rme, on mixdown, won't I only have the channels on the RMEto work with? I want to have 16 channels in and out. Should I sell the PreSonus and just get another rme?

I have a large amout of my original material recorded on tape with my ADAT LX-20 and I want to transfer it to hard disk - all 8 tracks. Once I get it on hard disk I want to master it cut a CD.
