Description
The term ADAT has come to stand for both the original digital tape machines and also for the lightpipe data transmission system. The ADAT lightpipe has become an audio industry standard for digital data transmission between units other than the original ADAT tape machines.

Newbie ADAT Question

I want to transfer my ADAT recorded tapes to my pc. Then I will mix using cakewalk or some other pc based mixing software. I am thinking of using the EMU 1212 which has an ADAT in out card. Will I be able to move the files over and store them on the hard drive? If so what types of files are they saved as? Wave Files?

Burning CD to PLEXTOR Plexwriter from ADAT or Mackie board

Hello. I am interested in burning a stereo master to a PLEXTOR Plexwriter 12/10/32S EXTERNAL SCSI CD-RW CD-RW directly from either two tracks from an ADAT or from the stereo outs of the Mackie board. THis is certainly not for final production, but is rather a hope at getting a quick master while we decide on a mastering console model.

Is this possible?

Can I use an ADAT as a 8 channel A to D converter?

I have a MOTU 828 and an ADAT XT. I am able to record 16 channels at once by using ADAT optical input to the MOTU 828, but only by playing an ADAT tape. I would like to use the ADAT analog inputs and optical output into the 828. I have not been able to find a way to make the ADAT put the 8 analog inputs out the digital output. Seems like if I push the right buttons, this should work.
