ADAT?
Is the built in optical input on an apple G5 an ADAT input if so would a BehringerADA8000 work to multitrack with it hooked up to it?

PC-based, Firewire or ADAT?
Hi. I'm starting to turn my external live recording rack into the computer, to avoid the time wasted in troublesome file transfers for one. The heart of my rack has been Fostex D2424LV, which has done it's work marvellously.

ADAT i/o to PC via Firewire or USB
I purchased an Alesis ADAT machine a couple years ago and now would like to transfer my files to my laptop either by firewire or usb. Unfortunately everything I find is over $200 as it has a bunch of inputs (1/4 and xlr) which I dont really need.

ADAT to computer transition
Can anyone tell me about their transition from ADAT to computer?
Can anyone recommend a good card for getting my ADAT tracks into the computer? I'm looking at the G5's
Did you keep using your ADAT to record with? I would like only to use my ADAT to archive and remix my S-VHS ADAT tapes if possible.
What software are you mixing with?

ADAT Problem
Due to space constaints I cannot multitrack to my computer. I'm currently recording basic tracks on an old Alesis ADAT blackface in one room and then transferring them to my computer via lightpipe. I've successfully made the transfers but found when I go to open up the files it can take up to five minutes to load.

ADAT - usable?
hi guys. in the great scheme of things to get for my studio, i've come to the conclusion the pro tools rig should come last, as otherwise it'll be obsolete by the time i open. in the mean time i would like to use my imac g4 and 002. not ideal, i know, but i'm hoping with the right mics and pres i can get truely pro results on this setup for my own projects.

anyone know an ADAT mixer?
I have myself an ADAT sound card...
but i have no mixer to go with it...
main objective here is to get 8 channels of sweet drumming onto the computer as 8 seperate tracks of sweet drumming instead of bouncing the tracks down to 1 mono unmixable channel :)
problem is .. i can't find any 8 channel mixers with ADAT on them..
(ARSE!)
anyone know of any

Connecting ADAT MOTU 896 to Digi 002
Has anyone done this? I have connected the optical in and outs from the MOTU to the digi but when I select the ADAT 1 input in pro tools it does not have any signal?

i need more OUTs/INs for my MOTU 828mk II.
so i wanna buy an analog-to-ADAT- and ADAT-to-analog-converter (each 8 channels)!
somebody told me the RME ADI-8 PRO is a good choice. is it?
are there other alternatives? maybe cheaper with the same quality ;-)
THANX in advance for your tips!
