Neumann U87 alternatives
Hi,
I am planning to set up a small studio. It will be used for working on my own music but also commercially, for recording vocals including voice overs and occasionally instruments. I would probably add some extra mics later, but for start, I want to buy one "credible" mic.

Need help mixing an alternative "math rock" song
Hi everyone,
I'm the singer/guitarist of a new alternative mathy rock band from Bristol, UK. We've been doing some "bedroom" recordings for demos.
Looking for a 64 bit alternative to waves
I want to find a great mixing bundle that is 64 bit. Any ideas to check out would be great. Thanks.

Alternatives to the RODE Videomic Pro
Hi, I'm considering buying a RODE Videomic Pro to use with my DSLR but have heard that it's a bit flimsy and the shock mount requires regular adjustment. Can anyone recommend a better alternative? Thanks!

Is there a better alternative to Soundcloud?
Soundcloud seems useful as it works on HTML 5 and iPhones, but unless you pay the expensive membership, you can't embed a player into your website (just a bunch of little cloud players), plus the quality of the song is not the best.
The ReverbNation player is great, but it won't work on iOS devices.

Cheaper alternative to PollstarPro?
Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative to PollstarPro's expensive $399 membership?
I'm an independent musician looking into finding clubs, managers and booking agents info so I can book gigs and tours with my band, but can't afford PollstarPro's expensive membership cost.

Alesis HD24 Alternative
I work with bands that regularly require over a dozen channels. Of course the usual multitrack recorder has only 8 simultaneous channels--ARRGHH!. For me the Alesis HD24 is the GOLD standard. but it's a big leap budget-wise to go from a Boss to an Alesis.
I have a Mackie TT24 with 3 ADAT fiberoptic outs. I do not need the A/D converters that the Alesis has.

Alternative Insert Cables
This isn't so much a question as a story about what I've been up to the last few days. See, as recently as Sunday I ordered up an Alesis 3630. I gather the opinion of it is that it's fine until you want it to "crunch". We'll see how it stacks up with more cheap gear when it arrives. Exciting, really :)
