Hey! We're a reasonably new acoustic band, looking for a bit of feedback on our stuff, and any advice you can give us. We're both new to the music industry and it's a difficult one!

Haven't been here in a long while, had to bookmark it. I am sure everyone is still happily recording as am I. I am in position to finally move on a top shelf tube mic, I have everything else I CARE to own at the moment. I would like your experienced views as to which mic I might consider buying opposed to the Brauner.

I'm just looking for basic but good preset synthe sounds not unlike the Killers used on their debut LP "Hot Fuss". I tried absynthe but wasn't feeling the presets and don't know enough to tweak them to sound how I'd like, besides they didn't have much in the way of steady saw/lead type stuff. And Omnisphere is too massive for what I want.

There are several ways to get a thicker sound. I was hoping to discus one that I heard about recently.

So there is double tracking: recording the same part with multiple takes possibly changing guitars, amps, EQ.

I am loathe to buy -anything- 'Waves'... I've evaluated several of their plugs and there is always some problem... either with authorizing the demo or getting timely responses from their support. And then there's the price... oy...

Hi there guys, i am new here and would like to use this thread to ask questions about mixing alternative rock music to the likes of Breaking Benjamin, 3 days grace and Seether. I intend to use this forum a lot in the future and will share my mixes for constructive critiqeu aswell in the hopes of becoming a better engineer.

Are there any somewhat-similar mics to the SM57? As in: good for combos, some snares, percs, some interesting vocals, but with a different character to the SM57. I'm asking because I'd like to expand my mic locker, and would need additional mics to handle more jobs like my current (single) SM57 handles at this moment, but with some more tonal variety.
