Anybody had any experience with Sonar on an AMD XP system?

Any experience driven opinions? What are the pros and cons of an AMD cpu compared to an Intel (namely P3) for a DAW?

I've read over this forum and related sites, which all seem to agree that it is "safer" to go with Intel chips and non VIA chipsets.

I was wondering though, is there anyone out there that is using an AMD and/or VIA chipset without ANY problems? If so, what is your system configuration and what type of work are you doing.

I want to do basic computer based recording and I'm not sure what kind of audio card or interface to buy (can you tell I'm new at this?). My PC has an AMD K6 processor in it. From what I've heard, I'm going to need to upgrade the entire motherboard and processor before I can even begin to record.

Is that true?
