Guitar amp iso closet plans?
Forums
I have a back room in my studio that is used as a gear docking area or back the van into etc to unload gear. the walls around it are sound proofed. I want to use it to put another guitar cab in. I was thinking of just making a closet with 8" insulation on the top, 2 sides and bottom and just pointing the amp into it. Will this work or should I build a whole iso cab?

What Power Amp for new monitors?
Forums
I just purchased a pair of Paradigm Mini Monitors on eBay to be used as my main nearfields for mixing and tracking. I have been looking for some new nearfields and after comparing these to my "really" cheap JBL's they were the way to go. Now I will be able to hear the bass content of my mixes, not just hope that it's there.

Headphone/HP amp recommendations
Forums
Recently I've had a couple of projects come thru my place w/some SERIOUSLY loud drummers/guitar players. Marshall stax, 5150, etc. and I'm afraid my current cue mix setup was pretty much woefully inadequate.

Small amp big sound
Forums
I have heard again and again that you can get a big sound out of a small amp. I don't really understand how this is possible, and was wondering if someone could expain this phenomenon.
I am after a Guns&Roses (Appetite for destruction) kind of sound. Or a Lynyrd Skynyrd (That Smell) sound. Can I get this with a fender champ or little danelectr?

Crown Dc 300 amp (opinions please)
Forums
I have the opportunity to buy a Crown Dc 300 amp but have little knowledge about amps and their prices. He is asking $275 and says the unit is in near mint condition.
I use NS-10's but am thinking about selling them and buying a pair of Tannoy Reveals.
Anyway, I'd love to hear what you guys think of the amp. Jules?
Thanks

summing amp modules ?
Forums
I have been playing around with the idea of assembling several of my outboard preamp and EQ modules into a small 4x2 console. I still
haven't figured out what to do about the two required summing amps. In general, I am using existing modules for all functions, but summing

What about the Line 6 Pod/ Amp Farm?
Forums
I have always recorded using good guitars and amps (and players when we get them  )so much so that we have a fairly nice collection of both here at the studio. But I have also been reading that the PT guys really like the Amp Farm. Assuming that the Pod is some what the same I am curious as to what everyone thinks about the Pod and what are some of the things you do with it.

Monitor amp upgrade Q
Forums
One of the weaker links in my current setup is the Samson 240 power amp I'm using to drive my Event 20/20 monitors. Not only is it, well, a Samson, but it's a mite underpowered at 120 watts a side (the 20/20s are rated at 150 program/200 peak).

Micing an amp vs recording direct

Hi, I love this forum and have appreciated a lot of the advice presented here. I have a very elementary problem with getting quality sound when Micing my amplifier and am not sure the reason for it. I am recording to HD, my signal chain is (in reverse order) SB Live Platinum, Digitech
