Best Headphones, Monitors, Power Amps for home studio?
Just curious if anyone could give me some insight on the best bang for your buck studio monitors and headphones. For monitoring, I've read tons about stuff like the Mackie HR624/824 setup...and lately my interest has been aimed at something like the Yamaha MSP5's. Yes? No?
2 guitar amps & 2 mics
Ive done some recording using 2 guitar amps and two mics (sometimes even 2 mics per amp),panned left and right at the board, using two channels, to try to get that big (I'm standing next to the amp----big room---full sound).
Does anyone out there use this method?-if not,how about some ideas

EMI 806 mic amps (REDD style)
a friend of mine brought me in a couple of these funky 60's ex abbey road pre's today for restoration- theyre a bit similar to the redd47 line amp in construction, but the circuit looks different- ill be tracing out the schems for them over the next coupla weeks, will post them when done. they look well cool- little magic eye level meters, in a red cartridge, same size as the V-series.

Studio power amps and cooling fans
Can anyone advise me if they're running a power amp that has a cooling fan but is still very quiet?
I'd like a studio amp that can double for live performance once in a while to run some stage monitors. I doubt that any of the fan-less models, such as Hafler, are really up to the task of running full tilt in a live situation. Thanks for your suggestions!
