Midi/Analogue Sync Set-up help needed!

Hi,

I'm in the process of putting together my small live/studio set up and aside from the individual bits of hardware on my list, i need to know what else i might need to tempo sync it all together and check I'm not missing anything (there's a tight budget involved you see!)

Korg Electribe EM1 (Midi In, Midi Out, Midi Thru)

Analogue and Digital Equipment (HELP?)

Ive been given a college assignment to research the necessary and best equipment needed for:

1) Analogue recording studio
2) A Digital Recording studio

equipment list must include

-multi-track recording system
-multitrack recorder
-Monitors
-Microphones (Dynamic & Condensor)
- A:D & D:A converters / interface

Analogue or digital?

I've only just started thinking about setting up a small studio and am in the process of deciding what equipment to buy.

As far as the desk goes i was thinking of a Yamaha 02R as it is fully featured and seems to be exactly what i need but i was wondering if i'd be better going for an analog desk + gates, compressors, effects etc.

What is the general opinion about this?

Analogue Setup

I'm finally on my way to setting up a studio of my own, and have been shopping around for components, and I'm curious as to what the wonderful folk of this forum would consider their ideal set-up. The only limitation? Everything possible must be analog. Maybe it's my history in live sound, or my aversion to learning Mac, but let's see what you folk can do with this. Run wild.

Mixing Analogue Out of Digi 001

Hey Everybody,
I have a few questions that are specific and have to do with mixing analog out of my 001. I have searched and found nothing helpful. First my setup, then the questions:

Digi 001
Alesis AI3 for ADAT I/O
Lucid 24/96
Midas Venice
Outboard comps: 1176, Valley People 2-610, RNC (2)
P4 2.6 Ghz, 512 ram, 400 mhz FSB

Analogue vs digital mixing

I'm a digital daw kinda guy. I love editing audio and working with plugs etc. I love all that is good with digital...what PISSES me off about it all is mixing. It seems to take forever to get the mix happening, then when you get it, it's not quite there...there's something missing. Most stuff mixed on DAWs that I have heard has it. I don't want my stuff to have it any more.
