I have upgraded my pc, it is up and running, but I can't get windows98 to recognize my new CDrom drive. I decided to upgrade and wanted to keep my old 6gig HD until I could afford some more upgrades. When I booted up it said there was a conflict with the drives and a different controller would be used.

I am a newbie to building my own pc. A have a couple of questions.

First, is newegg.com a reputable online dealer?

hi I'm a newbie and have looked on these boards for info for a new daw system and this is what i got:

so I used the Zalman flower heat sink and fan (variable control) in my new ANUS because it is reportedly quiet. I also used the Enermax 350W P/S with the variable speed control for the same reason. Currently i have both fans running high and it's pretty loud. Obviously I can turn them both down, but I do not know what are acceptable temps for the mobo (P4PE) and P4 2.4B.

So, I got my machine up and running and all is well! The only problem I had was installing XP. Originally, I was trying to copy files w/o running smartdrv.exe so the machine would hang. So I re-booted and ran smartdrv.exe first then installed windows and everything is fine.

My Anus refuses to boot in overclocked mode for no reason. Boots fine at 1.6. Any ideas?

As I understand the Asus P4B266 is the Mobo you're supposed to build your DAW on.
What about Asus P4B266SE ? Is it still a good mobo or is some crucial part missing on the SE-model? Trying to build my first DAW and I'd be grateful for help here.
One more question.

My P4B266 is currently on BIOS Revision 1003. I noticed on the ASUS site that there is 1005, 1007, 1008 and 1009. Are any of your ANUS's using one of these versions? Is there any justification for upgrading to any of these versions? if so which do you recommend?

Gary, how do you feel the different incarnations of DAW have compared lately. Now that you have your original Anus back, was it the best of the lot? Better than the PRS/Santana system or at least better than the newer 533(errata chipped) board?
