Good article in latest Recording Magazine - rec'ng drums

Though often one long advertisement for gear, this month's issue contained a fantastic discussion of phase issues inherent to recording drums with overheads. The author (can't remember who) gives a detailed example of a great way to fix problems. I jumped right to my DAW and followed his instructions on some recent drums tracks I recorded.

Although the author talks about the pop single per se, (NOT Classical Music directly) a lot of it could apply to recorded music in general for the rest of us. If you haven't fully aquainted yourself with the gentleman, I highly suggest you do so now. To merely say he was a major force in shaping current recording technology is to ignore his huge contributions behind the board.

Gary Brenner XP DAW optimization article - problems!

A customer requested I setup their DAW system based on the above article. However when I do, the PCI based cards do not work. They show up and the drivers are loaded by XP but they have an exclamation mark and the message "This device cannot start" - Code 10. Switching the cards around makes no difference.
