I really like using this on my voice. It seems to work fairly well.

I have heard that dynamic mics are affected much more strongly by preamps than condenser mics because the gain change required is so much greater.

This leads to two questions:

1) Will a better mic preamp fundamentally change the sound of a 57?

and

ok kiddies...need some mixer help. I am looking for a mixer to record my drums(4 mics) and another for guitar mics(2 mics)...any suggestions or personal preferance? my budget is $50-$200 per mixer. the only thing they need to do is work with garageband..thats it. thanks

I have decided to take the plunge and open a studio. I have a few pieces of decent gear that have got me along up to this point but have been looking at gear purchases to put me into a much more pro class of gear and sound results.

So I've been going off and on about what audio interface I want to get. It's still sorta between the PreSonus Firebox and M-Audio Mbox.

I would like to buy/build a system based around my existing Cubase sx3 and m-audio 24/96 and Korg trinity. it is intended for home recording and mixing. any suggestions? what do you guys think is reasonable?

I'm in the midst of building a small setup for recording. In my spending of cash flow, I have very little left in my budget for anything else. Right now I have a pair of $25 Sony headphones I bought at Walmart.

Does anyone have recommendations for headphones under $50?
I could possibly spend up to $100, but would prefer to be under $50.

I know that my subject sounds impossible, and it is...but I'm looking for a pair of small diaphragm condensers (cardioid) that can produce a similar flavor to the 4011's in a budget of $500-700.

2 overheads.

What do you guys recommend. Right now I have Edirol MA10's and I HATE them.
