can you use for example an A&H gl-2200, which I know is used mostly as an FOH, as a recording/studio console? I am looking for a good analog board for recording...but is something like this tuned for live only?

At the moment I use an Allen & Heath 16 channel mixer. When I go to upgrade to a console. What brand names are the best? (anything under $30,000)
And where are some of the best places to look for used consoles, or even new ones?

Anybody know what the difference in a live board verses a recording console is?
Like for instance Mackie boards are marketed as that they are live and for recording use. And then the Midas series boards are called live boards?
Is it just that one company designs something and then after proving themselves in the market place that it becomes one or the other?

I have a friend with a DDA S-Series Console about 10-12 years old and its in mint condition. I was wondering if anyone has heard this board or had any experience with it. How are the pres, eqs, etc on it. He is thinking about selling it and I was wondering if it was a good buy.

What would be a fair price for it in mint condition.

I am wondering if anyone knows what an estimated market price is on a great condition used SSL G series 32 frame console that does not have total recall.
Any ideas?

Right now I am using an Allen & Heath 16 channel compact mixer. If I were to purchase a console in, Ohhh say 1 to 2 years, what would be some other the best ones to look at first?I do mostly harder music (lots of guitar).
Also...if the cheapest line is the $1000 to $2500 (stuff that I am using now).

Hey, i have one of these mixers down at my practice space that we've just been using for a PA console. Does any one know what kind of pre's they use or how they sound. I'm wondering if it would be worth it for me to get it cleaned up, as all the pre's have direct outs so i could use it for tracking larger numbers of tracks? Anyone used it?
