CPU overload with dual 1.8 opterons only 20 plugins
I am having a little bit of a CPU usage problem when I try putting some plugins on my tracks.
Currently I have about 40 tracks (48khz, 24bit, Cubase SX3) I'm editting, about 20 plugins total. I would like to be able to run at least 20 more. Right now the cpu is at about 90-95%. The UAD meter is at about 79%.
MOTU 828 mkII & Uad-1 - Which Mobo/CPU to choose?
Hi
I'm looking to upgrade my PC, partly because I can't seem to get rid of clicks/pops from my MOTU firewire... Tried just about everything.
And of course I'd like a faster machine for my Cubase use...
Anyone using a combination of the 828 and UAD-1, with no problems? and if so - which Mobo/CPU do you use?

CPU cooler fan speed on Asus A8V deluxe
Hola!
Almost done with my new DAW. Just one more question:
My Zalman 7700Cu CPU cooler can do 1000 - 2000 rpm. According to the Zalman website it should be safe to run at 1000rpm for all processors. (From what I've read the AMD 64 run pretty cool any way)

Optimal Cpu Case Temperature?
i'm wondering what the average temperature (degrees F) is for the inside of a computer case. also, how hot is too hot, to the point where it could damage your components? i have a thermometer and it shows that i generally run between 75-83 degrees F. is this normal? thank you!

PCI less CPU overhead vs. . Firewire?
The Echo Layla3g Audio Interface is at least $100 less then their new
Firewire version (AudioFire8).
I dont have a portable need for Firewire. Is there some technical reason to
stay with PCI?. Does the PCI version use less CPU overhead then a Firewire
would?
Any thoughts?

Optimising CPU in a powerbook
Hi guys,
i searched for a possible solution then figured it'd be better just to post.
I'm running a 17" powerbook with an MBox and a Lacie D2 extreme hdd and i'm just after any ideas to help optimise CPU power.

I want some big fat CPU hog Plugins
I know a lot of plugin designers have to keep the CPU usage on their plugins to a minimum, but I wonder how much better the plugs could be if they just went ballz-out with as much CPU usage as is necessary to make the best possible sound. The main thing I am looking for is EQ and bus compressor.

CPU vs. . Digital Recorder
I have been reasearching for about 2 months now and after pretty much deciding on a Dual 1.8GHz Power Mac (I would add about a gig of ram), an Mbox w/Pro Tools, and probably Reason, someone has turned me onto the idea of just getting a nice digital recorder instead.

I am considering a Dual Xeon CPU Set up for Pro Tools LE
I have a Digi002 rack set up and I am currently using a P4 3.2 GHZ CPU. I record mainly acoustic based music, with little to no MIDI used at all. I don't usually track with effects to 'tape' so needless to say, there are a lot of plugin 's being used when it comes time to mix down.
