clipping?

more than 90percent of the time i use plugins to do mixes. what my question is...

say i put a limiter on a track, so the levels stay below clipping, but on the compressor that is also on the track, is clipping. does this matter? should i try to also keep my compressor under clipping level even though the main track is not clipping? thank you.

Clipping Peak Removal?

Forums

Hi,

I have several old tracks that have the odd clipped peak. I was wondering on recommendations for 'fixing' these. I realise that these are somewhat limited in scope, but in my case these are tracks that are fine except for 3-4 unsightly overs.

I've seen adverts for various tools like Izotope and so on, but never used them (Happily using WL4 for close to a decade I guess.)

Clipping problem when mixing down

I have a project which contains a vocal track that has its volume elevated to the point of clipping - on purpose. It sounds really nice. When I play it in my program (Sonar 7) it sounds nice, at least. This is because the only track that is clipping is the vocal track, and everything else comes through clear when it does. When I export and mix down to a single stereo track, bad things happen.

Peculiar buzzing/clipping on recorded guitar track

I am Micing a Fender Blues Jr. with an SM58 that's hooked into a PreSonus Studio Channel Preamp. This is output into my MOTU Ultralite mk3 which is hooked via firewire to my PC and recorded via Cubase 5 in Windows 7 64-bit. The VU meter on my pre-amp does not indicate any clipping not does the input level within cubase. The waveform does not appear to have any clipping either.

Mixing MIDI drums: clipping/distortion.

I'm currently working on a music project in Garageband [yes, not the best DAW, but I'm comfortable with it, and I can't afford high-end DAWs]; while I think I'm able to mix most audio fairly well, I'm still having trouble with drum mixing. I'm using Addictive Drums for the drum input; while I'm able to "record" the MIDI tracks the way I want, I'm having trouble mixing them.
