Compression/EQ on master fader
If I'm mixing two distorted guitars, panned hard left and right, would I run into any problems (phase etc...) by busing them to a stereo master fader and applying EQ and or compression on the master instead of each gtr track? The only reason I would do it would be to save DSP.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

How much individual compression/limiting on elements of
I am completing my electronic "Dance?" album. I have gone through and read most of the posts about Mastering and how much room to leave for the mastering engineer. In my mix I am busing all the drums to a stereo fader and using the Waves L1 Ultramximizer at about 3-9 db of reductio. Bass sounds I am compressing pretty hard at about -8 of reduction on the trransients at a 4-6:1 ratio.
MULTIBAND COMPRESSION: love or hate it
hi!
Why do you very pro mastering guys hate multiband compression so much?
I am doing junior mastering and all I can do is upgrade to the next step which is Waves Master bundle, etc etc.
Also, why are the high mids the most colored after multiband compression? Yes, I have tested it with other sources and with different mixing engineers.
Thanks!

FSI Dual Compression Amp Info?
Hi, I found this 10 plus years ago and put it in the "to fix" pile and finally got it up and running recently. Tried to find some information on it but only got some
listings in studio equipment on site hits. Quality components and sounds good but was curious to its origins. Have it racked with a Furman submixer.
Thanks

A beginners guide to multiband compression
Hi all,
About the only black box I don't have much of a handle on is multiband dynamics processing.
Everything else, I know what I'm looking for, and can pretty confidently dial in the sound I hear in my head. Can anyone recommend a source to help me learn how to get the most out of this process?
Thanks!
Jonathan

Basic Compression Question from A Newbie
Hi Everyone...
My first post here! Have a very basic question...
I do home recording (for fun) with an Akai DPS16. I have an RNC Compressor and would like to add a touch of compression to the final mix (going to my Philips CD burner).

Drums: Compression or Gates?
Recording 3 piece live in barn.
4 mics on drums (kick, snare, 2 overhead) all subbed to two tracks ADAT.
IF I would like to try dynamics processing of some sort -- which is more common: compressing or gating? 4 or 2 channel as in 1 per mic or just kick and snare? Or perhaps process after subbed to two? process to tape or at mix?
