Yamaha 01V96 as DAW recording device...
I was wondering if using a Yamaha 01V96 as a DAW recording device was a good idea?
If I would like to record 12 simultaneous channels via firewire into software (like cubase, or such), can the 01V96 be used as such?

Looking For Direction Finding Good DAW
I am in the market for a Digital Audio Workstation with 8 or more preamps (inputs), but one which I don't need to buy any Pro Tools software to use. I just want to record raw digital tracks, transfer them to my laptop via firewire or usb, and work with the tracks using Cool Edit Pro on the laptop. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Buying a DAW computer
After trawling the net to find a suitable daw computer I have come across a number of so called specialist daw computers at 3 times the price of a normal computer.
I have studied some aspects i.e. silent factors and what I need for proccessing speed and power etc.

Advice needed on new DAW setup
Hi,
I currently have a dual xeon 3.2 Ghz w/ 2 Gig RAM running Sonar 8 PE with a MOTU 1224 and use a Mackie 1604VLZ for connecting XLRs and playback monitoring (to avoid CPU latency). I'm considering upgrading the MOTU 1224 to either the 2408mkiii or HD192.

ADAT tapes to computer-usb-DAW...How to?
So, I have a bunch of ADAT tapes (mostly pairs, making 16 tracks) of unmixed music from the olden days.
I'd like to get these tracks into my computer for mixing on a DAW such as sonar, audition, vegas, etc.
Whats the best way of doing this? I no longer have the ADAT machines, but see that they are dirt cheap on ebay. I remember that they have an optical port...

A good tip on deciding your software(in this case a DAW)
Hello all,
This is mainly for those in search of new DAW-ware etc. or those who wish to get into computer recording .(n**bs)
As i looked at the soandsoDAW.net forum site in search of any thing that can improve the DAW l own experience , l noticed quite of an amount of complainers . So l looked into all of them just for extra knowledge of my own software.
What would you like your DAW to do?
What do you like or dislike about current DAW's such as Pro Tools and Cubase? What would you like your DAW to do that it cant at the present time? Is simple better, or is having a garage of options and windows?

Is there a sound difference in DAW's ?
Ive read, where some people say that if you load up the same tracks in different DAW's on the same PC, use the same hardware and monitors and press play, each will sound different. I find it hard to believe. Anyone ever do an actual test ? Its all digital. I can see where different hardware would effect the sound. But not software.
