Do you generally send all your drum tracks to a 2-bus and compress them all together when tracking?

I am about to track some drums on 2", and i want to make sure that I don't screw anything up. This time it has to be perfect.
One of the things i'm worried about is phase cancellation. .i hate phase cancellation. all my drumrecordings sounds like they suffer from it. don't wanna hear it anymore.

What compression settings do you use for tracking drums?

first time for me here on the drums forum.
I'm facing the need to get a drum set for the studio, just if the drummer can't get his in or can't rent somethign in time.
ANyway, I would like to know what shoudl be a very basic setting that can make 90% drummers happy.

Can I run this by you:

I've heard repeatedly that one must check the phase of drum mics in relation to one another to find phasing problems. How does one go about doing this? I've heard things about using a "phase clicker" but I don't know what that is. Is it a procedure that one would perform which could be done with the phase meter on the console; or do you need to have a phase clicker or do you need both?

Since I'm on the beginners forum... please, watch the budget :)
What kind of mics do you guys have and use to track drums?

Hi All,

I am recording some drum tracks for my bands demo/CD project this weekend. We are using an 8track recorder, so we can only use one channel for drums. I have a Mackie 1402VLZ-Pro mixer to submix the mics and send to the recorder. It is a Boss BR8 in case you are interested. How would you mic a standard 5 piece kit in this situation?

Does anyone know what makes a good drum room? High ceilings? Cedar panelling? Any tips are info you guys have gathered along the way would be great.

how do you come up with the correct pitch for each drum?

basically i have been working the head until the sound "comes together". I'm new to REALLY tuning drums and would like to get better. ive read all the basics of tuning. when i finish with a head, they tend to [what i think] be pretty tight and high pitched for the sizes. [13x12/14x13/16x16 toms and 14x4 snare, 22x16 kick]
