rules for panning drums
Is there a rule for panning drums? Do you pan from the drummers point or the audience?
I have always done this from the audience position but recently heard its a preference.

Removing/quieting drums on a recording?
I'm trying to do some drum covers, so I need to remove or at least quiet the drums on the original track so that you can hear my drums. I'm using Cubase LE4. What's the best way to do this?

So, I'm finally getting a drumset. Questions and out loud thoughts...
Next week I will be obtaining a drum kit to try out for recording. It's a 4pc. mid-80s USA Gretsch shell pack and I'm borrowing the remaining cymbals/hardware from a buddy to make a complete kit. My thoughts/questions are around setting them up to record.
Recording Drums - overhead mics
Hello!
I am reading, listening to other people records and trying to choose the best setup for my band for recording drums.
I have PreSonus firestudio project and SM57 mic. I was considering Shure Beta 52 for bass drum and for overheads I can buy used pair of sm81. SM57 would go for snare.

Cubase 5 (Recording and Editing Live Drums?)
One of the big things that I haven't been able to figure out on Cubase 5 is how to easily edit live drums that aren't quite in time. For my drum tracks I usually have 8 different tracks that I am working with, and in order to fix timing issues, I have to edit each individual track.

Recording drums with a MOTU ultralite mk3?
Does anyone have any experience with this? I read that this interface can also be used as a stand alone mixer. It has a lot of channels in the back... I have six drum mics that I would want to use... do I need a separate mixer or can I hook the mics in directly? Stereo to XLR cables possibly? Help!

Killing My Ear Drums
I'm looking for some ear plugs or something that I am still able to mix well with. Many of the venues and bands I work with while running sound are in pretty small places and I always get stuck mixing right in front of the FOH speaker After 4 hours of that, I am suffering the next day. What can I do when moving the mix spot is not an option?

Recording Electronic Drums in PT. Need some info.
So for the first time I am recording electro-drums via midi in PT8. I'm getting signal but no sound. Yeah I know it's probably a dumb i/o question but I liked to sleep through MIDI classes :) I have a midi track and a Aux Send... What to do? I am just wanting to record and use the drum module for the sounds NOT use a plugin for the drum sounds.
