DVD - CDR recorder used for music mastering?
Are these new DVD recorders that record CDRS suitable for CD mastering? Many will have 4X as the slowest speed and recently I found one with 8X as the slowest speed. THANKS for any help on this.

Best archival DVDr's?
As you may have guessed from my previous posts I'm having backup/archive issues. I've been using a lot of different media for DVDR backups on my mac. I haven't had any brand preference at this point. What are your recommendations as far as the best archival quality DVDR's?

DVD+R Double Layer backups ?
We recently started using DVD+R Double Layer discs for data backups with the PLEXTOR 716 DVD burner. Like the convenience of the 8.5 GB capacity, esp for large surround sound sessions. Both VerbatI'm and Memorex discs seem to work fine.
Using Toast... verifies fine... mounts fine on a Mac G4 . Basically using procedure to backup Pro Tools sessions and CD & DVD images.

Music Video DVD Levels
I am mixing a live concert video DVD for a band and I have a problem with where to head with the overall level. After years of mixing and mastering for CD, I am used to peaking close to 0dB Fs. After investigating levels on commercial DVDs, I find that they often only peak to around -12dB. Some music DVDs however, have really hot CD kind of levels.

(This is sort of a follow-on to [="http://www.recording.org/ftopict-24794.html"]the Hidden Track thread[/]="http://www.recordin…"]the Hidden Track thread[/] I started, but it's probably a good topic on its own.)

printing CD's and DVD's
I would like to know something. I live here in Canada (Toronto) and I have 3 stores close to me where I by my printing and recroding stuff. Staples Business Depot, Futureshop and Long & Mcquade. I bought an Epson Stylus Photo R300 printer and bought CD-R printable CD's. And also the CD's (VerbatI'm - 50 pack) have a little logo in the middle where I can not print.
