burning DVDs

hi all,

i'd like to find out what software you're using for burning DVDs (most popular/reliable/the best)
i've bought a Sony DRU500A as OEM so no bundled software.

initially, i just want to burn data DVDs for archive and tranfer.
someone told me about "veritas primoDVD v2": would that be a recommendation?

Is DVD-RAM OK for burning Red Book CDs?

Just curious what kind of results people are getting from using newer DVD burners to burn Red Book CDs.

Where I'm coming from is: the system I'm putting together will definitely have a DVD burner for archiving purposes. Do I still need to add a low-jitter CD burner like PLEXTOR or Yamaha or will the newer DVD-RAM burners do this task just fine?

SACD X DVD-A

Hi!
Just wanted to know from friends, which format is gaining more popularity in the USA..
Seems that just now will be released the first Brazilian DVD-A, from a top hit band called Capital Inicial.
with the popularity of the DVD video, wouldn't it be easier to make it catch?

DVD Burners and 5.1

OK...now that Duxmer has opened the can of worms that is a DVD burner...I guess I would like to take it one step further...

Has anyone actually mixed to 5.1 (surround sound) or something equivalent (I know Nuendo does several different formats, but I have Cubase SX)? What is involved as far as burning to a DVD? I understand that the burning software is very, *very* expensive.

DVD backup?

ok. am i crazy? why can't we use a DVD burner to backup our projects. isn't it a way better alternative to stock piling removable hard drives. you can buy a burner for about $250. you can buy dvd-rs for a buck a piece. you can fit roughly a half an hour's worth of 16-track, 24bit, 48kHz audio on a 4.7 gig dvd. so what gives?
