Equipment for switching music between recording and DJ
I could really use some advice on choosing equipment. I have a custom built PC and I want to be able to switch back and forth between music production (recording), DJ (both live and recording) and listening to music with as much quality as possible. In other words switchable between flat and non-flat. Where I am especially lost is the USB Audio Interface and DAC.
Upgrading my Home Studio Recording equipments
Greetings.
I want to change my current setup to the one Focusrite Saffire PRO 24 sound card mainly for improvement in recording Vocals and Acoustic Guitar.
The problem is i have no idea that this change does really affect my recording quality.
My current setup:
- Infrasonic Quartet 4x4 Pci interface (I just use Line-in and not Its own preamp)

basic recording equipment
I'm working on my home studio right now, and I was hoping to get some input on what the "Must Have" items are in your opinions. I have a Tascam Us-1800 (16 by 4) interface for A to D, Pro Tools 10, various Mics ( one large diaphragm dynamics, several small diaphragm dynamic, and a small diaphragm condenser) mic stands, cables, amps, guitars,a PA, a drum kit, stuff like that.

Do I need more equipment?
My gear is setup to record into my PC. All works well, except that my input is extremely low (as seen within my DAW). Do I need an amp to boost my signal just before it enters my PC?
Here's my setup:
Microphone (Shure SM58S) --> Mixer (Behringer Xenyx X1622USB) --> PC Win 7, recording with GoldWave software (using USB cable from mixer to PC)

Is it possible to get my current recording equipment/software to work together?
(I'm new to the forum and new to recording in general, so I apologize in advance if I ask some dumb/nonsensical questions or use incorrect terminology)
