I just got me one of these silver beauties and it sounds wonderful.
However, I'm having an issue with it's rear stereo inputs. When I plug my synth into them, there is very little gain going into the Penta.
Even with the Input Gain knob turned all the way up and the synth's volume at max, I can barely get to meters to blink past -20!

i am looking for a vocal mic preamp in the $400 to $800 range. i will be running a studio projects c1 mic through it.

right now iam thinking Focusrite voicemaster or Joemeek vc1Q. thanks

running on MOTU 828 to dp3. if that helps.

Does anyone knows when it'll be avaliable? For how much? I imagine that it'll be better than a Digimax right?

Can anyone out there with this unit tell me if the line in is on XLR - I suspect it is, but need to know for sure. Focusrite's web site is no help, nor has a Google search brought any luck.

You know, I worked with this pre for a few days and thought it was wonderful. I rememeber, perhaps wrongly, it getting bashed as not being worth a crap. I was wondering what people here think of it and why. It doesnt get much attention in the top end pre market it seems. Actually, the only Focusrite mnetions I see are the cheap stuff and the ISA stuff.

Just been using a Neve 1073 pair recently, I find, like on my Helios eq that boost seems to be the thing I go for instictivly..

I have heard that the same goes for the API range, twist in a boost and BAFF! Cool kick, snare & gtr sounds

Using a Foucusrite 215 however, leads me to cut frequencies.. (vocal 'honk' kick 'crok')

Why is this?

Are any of these good? Quite popular here in Norway in the 80`s, but I haven`t seeing them mentioned here often. .
