Mitigating Fret Noise (example attached)
Here is something I recorded yesterday with my Bluebird, the Mbox Pro and PT. Mic was about 12" from sound port. I know the BB is usually a vocal mic, it's just the only one I have atm.
Someone is coming over today with an SM57 to see if I can get it any better, but I wanted people's thoughts on this... (see attachment)

Musings on bass fret noise- How do you feel about it?
I have been getting good general tones from recording my acoustic bass guitar, however, the action was factory set, and was high. I finally got around to dropping the string height somewhat, and of course the playing comfort is increased, but I am getting more fret buzz.
Minimizing string/fret noise?
One of my biggest problems with getting a good electric or acoustic guitar sound is the abundance of string and fret noise. I'll touch on the acoustic side of things first.

fret noise on bass
i'm getting fret noise on my new fender active jazz bass (5-string). when i play notes near the bottom of the neck (frets 1-5ish) on the B string, its very difficult to finger the notes without hearing the string vibrate against the fret as i'm pushing it down. i'm not getting a buzz once i've pushed it down, only as i'm pushing it down or lifting up.

guitar recording and fret noise?
Guys,
I am recording a guitar part with lots of gain and distortion
What is the best way to minimise the noise produced by fingers moving across the fretboard?
I have tried gating, but it doesn't work very well..
any suggestions welcome..
thanks in advance!
