Somebody please help. I haven't been able to record for about 2 or 3 months now. I was recording a kids camp and everything was ok for the first 4 weeks then my computer just stopped recognizing my MOTU 8 pre interface. I've been to the mac service center about 4 or 5 times and the MOTU service center about 6 or 7 times.

hey everybody, this is my first post on here. i am an amateur home recorder, for lack of better terminology. i use garageband and i just bought a Behringer 1204usb. i have the basics down on recording to garageband. i am just curious as to mixing a song with it. i am using an instrumental in .wav or .mp3 format and the vocals are added to them.

At the high school attending I'm the main sound guy of the tech team. We had a bunch of old studio equipment lying around: enough to create some decent demo recordings in my spare time. I borrowed a G5 iMac from the tech class, as it would already have some loaded software for me to use.

Hi, newbie in many ways here.

I am using Garageband to pitch bend an imported audio file. However, on some of them, even when I am only going down a half step, there is distortion in the sound. Basically, it sounds like intense vibrato in the piano or guitar.

I've been messing around with the dynamic compressor in GarageBand '09. I understand the theory behind all the sliders (threshold, ratio, response time, gain). However, it seems they are missing a critical piece here: visual analysis of the signal. If I can't see the dB curve, how do I know where to set the threshold?

With what ive got, id say i fair more then well, and get stuff done how i want to.

So I'm going to teach a home recording class, and as I was researching I discovered that Apple no longer gives away Garageband for free. (Poor taste, apple.)

My friend wanted to use my studio for the night and he was using his MacBook Pro and he didn't install Logic Studio yet so he decided to stick with Garageband for now. I plugged in my Alesis Multimix8 into it and I had my MPC, my Electribe, everything connected right but whenever he tried recording a track on it there was absolutely nothing, it just wouldn't record.
