I wanted to create this post for people who are new to mixing and have a desire to learn about it. This is more so a guide as to how you should be learning how to mix rather then teaching you about mixing itself. It is simply my opinion and you can take what you want from it.

I was wandering what is needed for recording vocals on my computer (not instruments) other than a microphone. People talk about preamps and audio interface. Can someone tell what equipment is needed and what each does? And how each of them are connected?

Hi There, I was wondering if their is a mastering guideline manual for making sure my masters are suitable for radio broadcast. Someone told me if you use too much reverb that the radio stations wouldn't play them. Is this true? Is there a guide for radio broadcast suitability available for download somewhere?

(I am using Adobe audition 3, Sony Sound Forge 7, with Ozone 3)

The other instruments I do not have experience recording. I said fiddle and not violin on purpose.

The BBC’s introductory guide to microphones (geared towards radio or on location recording). I got a laugh out of the English terminology as well as the idea of placing a condom over a microphone.

I am new to this board and somewhat new to running sound. I play in an acoustic trio and want to learn more about EQ.

Any suggestions on where I can read more how to use EQ "in the real world" would be helpful.
