Hi,

I want to incorporate some of the hardware components that I own with my PT-LE rig but I am find that dealing with delay compensation annoying and time consuming.

I know other DAWs have native delay comp and it is also part of PT-HD.

How do fellow LE users deal with delay compensation and latencies that occur when using external hardware?

I'm looking at making some beats and from what i can tell, i can do it with beat makers. what i would like to know is exactly what these beat makers are. how do they work, and do they plug into my computer directly? (USB - sound inputs, what?). also, i only have the onboard sound, so (remembering it is a laptop) what Inputs/Outputs should i get for the sound card.

Looking at all the growth in the effects plugins in the last 2 years, some of them are better than the hardware effects units, I was wondering if software compressors would meet with the quality of hardware compressors anytime soon. Do you think it's possible? If not, please tell me why.

I've been dabbling in a bit of pc recording with Sonar and am currently of thinking of upgrading my pc and going with a Mac instead. I've put off moving to a mac for years because I've invested $$$'s in Windows software, but now I'm ready to make the big jump.

What sort of processor would be good for adding character or generally improving/changing/softening a computer generated mix of soft synths etc.

Something under £500 if possible!

I have a UAD-1 card, but I would like opinions on hardware as a comparison.
