Hardware compatibility with PRO TOOLS

Hi I'm going into music production and my school uses Pro Tools and i want to get pro tools to use on my own computer. Do you have to use digidesigns hardware to work with Pro Tools? I have one of the new Alesis Multimix firewire mixers that i love, is that compatible with Pro Tools? So basically can i just buy the software and use it with what i have already? or do I have to buy the m-box?

Hardware connections. .

I need some help with hardware connections with my 002R. The reference manual was kind of vague. I'm looking to hook up an RNC to the 002R. I'm guessing I would use the in's and out's of channels 5-8. What I'm really not sure of is in and out assignments both on the mixer view and the I/O dialog box. I was thinking I could do an inline type of thing but the FMR only has 1/4" jacks.

This is not anything professional and i dont need top of the line. i dont have the finances to spend outrageous.

Backline Micing Hardware

Forums

I'm am looking for a link or name of a manufacturer that manufactures a mic holder/stand that can slide between the bottom of an amp and the amp's road case in which it sits. I would be using either SM57 or MD 409 mics with them. I've seen some of these used previously and they are great. If the amp moves the mic stays put and moves with it.

I know there old, but i just can't seem to get enough of the Focusrite 6 band EQ, and I almost always start compressing with the fairchild 660.
