Should I mic the HiHats?
I have an important recording coming up and need to record a full drum kit and rock band live.
I am limited with the amount of tracks and microphones I can use.
I was wondering how important is it to mic up the hihats. I want the most detailed drum sound I can get and am using a full eight tracks on the drum kit alone.

Hi-hat Recording Help
Hey guys, so ive been taking all of you guys advice in my other threads and i got to admit my recordings sound 3x better then what they did. But when every i record my drums, the Hi-hat sounds like a "CLANK". its louder then the snare and kick drum. Ive tried aiming all of the mic's away from it but it still finds a way to get way up in the mix.

Too much hi-hat bleed in snare mic
What are some techniques for reducing splashy hi-hat bleed in the snare mic during tracking? When I compress the snare during mixing, there is way too much hi-hat bleed. I'ved used soundreplacer in the past, but I find that it eliminates the subtle nuances of the drummers performance. Please advise.
Thanks,
Benny

Hi-hat and snare sounds on "Stand up" and "Ev
How do they get that punch/bite on the drums especially on hi hat and snare, and what reverbs do they use on Carter Beauford'. "Stand up" and "Everyday" have amazing drums sound, the toms sound is a little weak though.

Reverbs on hi hat and snare / Carter Beauford
What kind of reverb and what settings are applied to hi hat and snare on Dave Mathews albums "Stand up" and "Everyday" It's like the old Yamaha SPX 90's "Plate" very short ambience. Can I get that setting in any of Logic Express reverbs? HEEEEELP

Reverbs on hi hat and snare on Dave Mathews "Stand up&q
Can you tell me what kind of reverb settings for hi hat and snare have been used on the albums "Stand up" and "Everyday" by Dave Mathews. I am wondering if they add an extremely short delay also. Can you get those settings with the reverbs in Logic Express? Thank you
Hi-hat Mic.. C414? KM85?
Hello all, I have one more mic needed before tracking can begin. Hi-hat . I was pretty set on getting a c414 (gold grill) because it can be used on many applications. Also considering a c60 (hard to find, love em!), KM85/84 (BIG Neumann FAN).
Any thoughts or experiences would be much appreciated! Thanx -matt
btw, I record digital and I'm using Avalon pre's. Progressive styles.

hi-hat decay?
anyone have to buy new hi-hats, or any cymbal for that matter, because of the 'ring' and decay time. a big problem of mine is my hats are sounding 'trashy' and 'ringy' but i think the other cymbals sound pretty good...so i decided to investigating on the hats I'm using...i hear the hats I'm using (sabian 13' AAX stage hats) are meant to be, well for Stage performance, as the name suggests.
