hi-hat mic?
which out of these 2 would make a better HI-HAT mic.
MXL603s or KSM27
can a large condenser like the ksm27 be used for a hi-hat mic ? I'm hoping so, so that way i can use the ksm27 on the hats and just pick up another 603s to use as overheads rather than picking up another ksm27 for an overhead which is much more money, and use the 603 on the hats

Preventing Hi-hat Leakage
Hey,
If I mike a snare with say an sm 57 and i use a dish like object to cover the rear end of the microphone, will most of the high frequency leakage from the hi hats get cancelled out due to the dish like obstruction.

Sm 58's and Hi hat
I am looking at buying some sm 58's to have around my studio.
Just curious, has anyone had good luck with using them on the Hi hat?
If not, what other mics would you list as a hi hat goto mic?

i listened to the AT3031 and thought it sounded nice for the bucks,
once again. any advice!
has anyone tried the C1000 on hats?

Two mic's on a Hi-hat technique
I am having trouble finding any information on this. The last time I tracked a band the engineer set up a 57 on the Hi Hat. Taped to the side of the 57 was a 451. The two mic were then bused to one track. I had never seen this technique before but it sounded amazing.

Incredible Hi Hat
Hi-hat on Staying Alive by Bee Gees.
One of the best if not the best hi hat I've ever heard.
Unless there's some games going on with it and there's something else mixed with it like a tamborine?
Do you know what's happening there?

Micing the Hi Hat
I am the drummer and the guy that mics the drums when we track. It trully is a pleasure, like cooking a great meal and then eating it, but I have a philosophical difference with my hi-hat Micing technique.
