French Horn?

How would one go about Micing a French Horn? Just a dynamic, likely a 57, on the bell? Or, would a large diaphragm work? Or, ought I to just take a couple of small diaphragms and take the horn player into a good room and set those up? I'm not really sure, I've never recorded horns before (as I am just starting out with this stuff) and I don't know what I'm doing.

Recording live bands with horns

Last night I went to see a band that had a horn player. I quickly realized that if I were gonna record a band like that, shouldn't I get some sort of "clip on " mic. For doing horns, live.
Doesn't Sennheiser make a clip on? Or is the Audio-Technica pro 35ax the way to go? Or which other mic would be good for doing horns and such?

Recording Trumpet and Flugelhorn

I am recording through my Digi 002 and my best mic is a MXL V69 tube (mogami edition). I also have a PreSonus "Blue Tube" stereo pre.

First, should I use the Blue Tube pre or the 002 pre? If I use the Blue Tube, how do I achieve a rich tone (warm)?

Second, any placement and setting tips for getting a rich sound. So far all is too thin . . . .

Hi friends,
I will be soon recording a Horns Band, with 35/40 very young but good musicians on a budget project.
I have previuosly recorded nice small Camerata CDs and horns section inside my studio, but now it will be a complete different approach.
I have the following mics on here:
2 AT 4050
2 C3000B
