I'm looking to upgrade preamps in my home studio and am weighing the pros and cons of the DVC vs the Great River( NV version ).I have never used either pre and this will be my first purchase of a high quality pre. What I'm most interested in is peoples experieneces using both with respect to loud, blues rock style guitar.Primarily the Langevin. For those of you you have direct experince using eith

Old Langevin AM-4 pres

So, thru happy circumstance, I just came into a pair of old Langevin AM-4 channels, pulled off a board long ago. What I've got is just the pres, mounted up with nothing but a power switch and a switchable (20db?) pad. They apparently hadn't even been turned on in 10 years -- power cord gone, had to make one of the 4-prong XLR things to even power it up.

More detailed and open- Langevin Dual mono or Sytek?

If anyone has hands on with both, which is more detailed? Which would you choose if you could only have one? (not counting the fact that the Sytek is 4 channel). Does the Langevin have a good "iron" sound to it, or is it more transparent?
Also, is the new Great River mp2nv as detailed as the original, or is it way different? Which do you prefer?
