What is your favourite mic preamp for a Neumann M 149?

Thanks for all your advice on the other thread. I now have this purchase (2 Distressors) sorted out for the beginning of next month. So that I have adequate time to research and consideration to what I get next, I thought I'd post this kinda early.

what are some differences between these two microphones and if you would choose one why would you choose it?

For example Numann M149 with Avalon vt-737 tube preamp...

These LOOK like a M147 and an M149. I could live life w/o a M149, but something that sounds like a real M147 would be great. anyone had much experience with the new school Neumann?

I've been looking for a good all-purpose large-diaphragm condensor and I just found a good deal on a used U87Ai locally. It was purchased new and never used, so it's pretty-much brand new. I can get it for $1,450, which seems like a pretty good deal. But then I think to myself that I could get a Shure KSM44 for less than half that price or an AT4050 for less than a third of that price.

Is the Neumann m149 the best vocal studio microphone, in the world ?

what is or opinion ?

Received this baby at a studio where i work. Sounds unbelievable. The best mic i ever heard. Does anyone know a better one ? Please i need some opinions.

Just bought two of those - will get them next week. They are large diaphragm condenser with switchable characteristics and a rectangular capsule.

Does anyone know their sound?
What did you use them for?
