Im still tryin to egt my studio going. The next thing i wanna get is my mics. What are the best mics to egt for my buck, for vocals, guitars and drums. I was thinking about 4 mics for the drums. And how much should i look at spending. I dont wanna walk into the store like an idiot and waste all my money on junk.

Flames invited.

I get decent drum sounds now but nothing with a particular "sound". I dont have any high-end gear so I'm not going for perfection just something that sounds cool. Anyone heard Refused, shape of punk to come record? Here's what I have now. (spider or something similar is coming hopefully by febuary)

I am about to track some drums on 2", and i want to make sure that I don't screw anything up. This time it has to be perfect.
One of the things i'm worried about is phase cancellation. .i hate phase cancellation. all my drumrecordings sounds like they suffer from it. don't wanna hear it anymore.

I have been using a matched pair of AKG 451's with cardoid capsules for a number of years now. A few days ago one of them was damaged beyond repair. I am just about to replace them and would very much welcome your imput on what you think makes great overheads and why.
