So, I'm finally getting a drumset. Questions and out loud thoughts...
Next week I will be obtaining a drum kit to try out for recording. It's a 4pc. mid-80s USA Gretsch shell pack and I'm borrowing the remaining cymbals/hardware from a buddy to make a complete kit. My thoughts/questions are around setting them up to record.
How loud should vocals be? I'm new b gentle lol
When I mix, I tend to turn the vocals down because I'm afraid that the vocals will overshadow the sound and I want people to hear the beat clear. THen people say the vocals arent loud enough, turn them up and use reverb. THen people say the vocals are too loud. Help lol
peavey mixer making a loud buzzing/humming noise
Hey guys,
I uploaded a vid of the mixer and the noise, check it out
soft vocals good loud vocals bad
when i sing quietly, really close to the mic, i get a good warm/rich sound
but when i move away to belt-out the vocals it sounds tinny.
is this all about the room and treatment?

Live mic for loud singers?
So my band played a show the other night, and afterwards the FOH came to my singer and told him he should use some mic that works well with loud singers (?)
I didn't hear this aside but my singer said all he remembered was it goes for about $180...
I call BS, but if anyone has an idea of this mic let me know!
Thanks!

Drums are too loud in church setting
Due to complains of the drums being too loud in our church, we are looking into some level reducing options. Currently we have a nice old Gretch Catalina kit which most of the drummers speak fondly of. The sanctuary is about 50' wide by 100' long about 30' high at the peak, typical New England modern construction.

Mixing for loud masters!
I'm just curious. I read somewhere (don't remember where) that in order to achieve loud levels in mastering you have to mix your song a certain way. but they didn't say how.
Now my question to all ME's out there is, what must a mix have, or not have, to get a maximum of level without squashing it or getting undesired pumping?
I'd appreciate any comments.

Kings of Leon - new New Holy Grail of LOUD and Clear
Just got a chance to listen to the new Kings of Leon album Because Of The Times.
As far as I know this is the loudest clearest music CD ever. Minimal cringe maximum boogie.
MICs for 1on1 conversation in loud room?
I have a job that requires specific Mic requirements with cost factors. I have a decent Video Editing background, currently an AVID user, but VERY limited sound recording knowledge.
Any input as to what MICs I should look at getting or other forums I should post to for answers would be very appreciated.
Here is the situation:
