NOT LOUD ENOUGH DAMNIT

I'm using logic pro 7.1 and i have recently recorded some songs using a grand piano with various mics etc- i have mixed it all but when compared to a track from a 'normal' CD- the level in my songs are way below that of the others- BUT in logic when i was bouncing the song i bounced it at as higher level i could with out it peaking, so how do i do this- its so annoying!

Best vocal mic for very loud stages/rehearsal rooms

hi,there are a few good mics out there that i have tested in mic shops that sound nice such as the Sennheiser E935, E945 Audio-Technica AE6100, AE4100. but i have been wondering what vocal mic might be best for my applications. i have a clean melodic voice but i sing in melodic metal bands that tend to be very loud on stage and in the rehearsal rooms.

best "cheap" mastering for loud indie rock album

hi folks, sorry if this has been discussed to death, as i'm sure it has. just looking for some quick and informed opinions. .

been looking at Alan Douches at West West Side, i know he comes highly regarded. any thoughts on Treelady? I've used Sterling After Hours, they were great, but I'm looking to get in @ 600-$1000.

Recording Loud Metal Vocals - Not Growls

G'day All,

I'm recording second album and due to producer moving, I've decided to take on the production myself.

I have a great Guitar, Bass and Drum sound and just about to work on Vocals, (pre-production is finished.)

I'm using Nuendo and looking to get a decent mic and mic preamp to record with, have a great room - just need the vocal hardware.

How Loud Should a Mix Be Before Sending to Master?

Quick question...

How many db's should a final mixdown usually be around before sending out to be mastered? Should it be mixed as hot as possible? Like just before clipping?

Or should there be a fair amount of room left so the mastering engineer has a lot of space to work with...

Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

How do pro's get the snare so loud and natural sounding?

Just wondering if any of you guys have any insite on how the pros can get a snare drum so loud and natural in the mix. I was listing to a tune the other day and the snare was as loud as the vocals but the rest of the kit was barely audiable. The snare was also very clear, and natural sounding. How do they get that seperation?
